Migrate from Joomla

Switching to a new platform can have a wide array of impacts on your website and your work flow. This is why we have created this website which has plenty of training videos, examples and documentation on all of the features in our own DRS Platform.

We highly recommend that you familiarize yourself with this platform by starting here. Once you have viewed the training videos for the content management and back-office management, and you feel confident in your knowledge of the platform, then please take the training exam. You can retake it once per day and claim your PDUs for the time you spent getting trained on the platform.

What is different?

As you'll see in the training videos, the interface is different. While that can be overwhelming at first, you'll quickly realize that the interface was made to be user-friendly and will become familiar very quickly.

The advantage of being on our new platform is that we are constantly adding new functionality. We discuss with chapters, get feedback and continue to build upon the platform to provide you with more ways to interact with your members. If you have a request for a functionality, please open a ticket and we'll be happy to discuss it with you.

What to expect once the process begins?

We are currently doing around 5 migrations per week. Our team is efficient and has been working closely with chapters to make sure that we continue to smoothen the process. Here are the steps that will be taken by our team.

  1. We will schedule your migration, create a timeline of when the various steps of the process will happen and we will share that information with you.
  2. We will create a staging environment of your new website and give you access to it. A staging website is a private website that you can access to view and browser your new website.
  3. We will give you an administrator account on the staging website so that you can familiarize yourself with the functionalities of the DRS platform.
  4. We will go live with your new website on the set date. Important: please note that we will keep your current joomla site available on a seperate domain name, for example if your website is pmi-abc.org, we will make your joomla site available on old.pmi-abc.org so that you can still access it when the new website is live.

Please note that we continue to have full backups of your new and old website. No information is deleted and you can always go back and access the previous website as needed. Please reach out to us if you have any questions about this.
